the hustlers
documentary
When a queer-inclusive rugby team goes from zero wins to unexpected champions…
their rise follows a raw, funny and deeply moving story about determination, belonging, and what it truly means to play for pride.
The Hustlers is a community-driven sports documentary that is raw, funny and hopeful. A cinematic underdog story with the swagger of a sports doco and the soul of a comedy-drama, celebrating camp and toughness in equal measure.
‘Next Goal Wins’ meets ‘Cheer’, with a healthy sprinkle of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’. At its heart, The Hustlers is about resilience and community - and challenging traditional ideas of strength and vulnerability.
PROJECT STATUS
The Hustlers is currently in production, with approximately 90% of principal photography complete. We are continuing to film through the Bingham Cup before moving further into post-production, and are currently seeking additional finance to support the film through post-production and distribution.
